Open Government: Agreement for exchange and cooperation with South Korea
Andrés Ibarra, Argentine Minister of Modernization, signed on June 30 in Seoul a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Interior of South Korea in order to create mechanisms of exchange and cooperation on open government, technological infrastructure and intelligent cities.
The Minister stressed that the agreement creates a space for rapprochement and cooperation "with a country that is a world leader in transparency and process of digital government."
In that sense Ibarra stressed that South Korea ranked first in the last three rankings on e-government development published by the United Nations, based on the categories of online services and citizen participation.
With the signing of this agreement, Argentina will become one of the 30 countries that are cooperating with South Korea on the implementation of open government.
Moreover, the Minister Ibarra met with members of the National Electoral Committee of China and exchanged experiences on electronic voting.
"South Korea, which has a recognized experience in electronic ballot elections, will participate in the national and international public tender for the purchase of equipment and software" predicted the head of the Ministry of Modernisation.
In addition, he toured with South Korean authorities the world`s first National Integrated Data Center (NCIS). This center today is the support of e-government system that reaches all its public administration.
The minister also visited the data center of the company LG, one of the most advanced centers in the world in technological infrastructure and data storage.
